Description
In the Master’s Degree Programme in Serial TV Scriptwriting, you can strengthen your professional skills and gain the skills to work as a scriptwriter in various fictional serialised projects.
Through the studies, you will acquire an understanding of the international field and explore how it is possible to create international stories from local observations. The program emphasizes the significance of viewer experience and continuity in serialised works.
Your studies are workshop-based, focusing on practical exercises. Teachers and professional mentors guide both group work and independent tasks. The learning environment and pedagogical approach are modeled after a familiar writing room setting from the professional field. Throughout the study periods, collaborative knowledge production and sharing are central to your learning experience. Over the course of your studies, you will develop reflective and critical thinking in various aspects of serialized storytelling.
The Structure of the Studies
Advanced Professional Studies: 25 ECTS credits
Free-Choice Studies: 5 ECTS credits
Master's Thesis: 30 ECTS credits
Total: 60 ECTS credits
Objectives
The degree programme will provide specialised expertise in the analysis, ideation, conceptualisation, writing, presentation, and sales of serialized TV scriptwriting.
In the thesis project, you will plan and create a concept package for your own television series, summarizing the idea and key elements of the series. Additionally, you will compile a thesis report reflecting on your creative process, the themes of your series, and your content choices.
As a responsible and team-oriented professional, you will have excellent skills for working in the field of serialized TV scriptwriting. You can monitor changes in your field and develop your professional expertise.
Curriculum development and working life cooperation
The curriculum follows the European and national frameworks for higher education qualifications (NQF and EQF). The programme has been developed in collaboration with experts from the professional field. Experiences gained from the Virtual Writers' Room (ESF) project have also been considered. Students' own professional networks are a significant part of the training's expertise in the professional field.
