Objectives

During the course, a picture is formed of oneself and a bachelor of social services in the field of social work.

Upon completing the course, the student will:
• Analyze their own identity in general and in relation to social work values, ethical principles, and professional practice.
• Analyze their own starting points and proactivity as a self-directed actor and learner, and engage in reflection both individually and collaboratively.
• Understand the foundations of social work ethics and various conceptions of humanity as part of their professional agency.
• Be aware of sustainable development and the ever-changing global nature of social work, as well as the societal, human rights, and moral principles and values expected of professionals.

Content

• Personal life history, self-image, and identity, professional growth, and social work competencies
• Self-directed learner, socio-constructivist learning, active and ethical agency, internal motivation
• Self-assessment and reflection skills, listening to and appreciating others’ perspectives, receiving and giving feedback
• Collaboration, group dynamics, interpersonal communication skills
• Human rights, respect for human dignity, and social justice
• Autonomy, confidentiality, and discretion
• Sustainable development and a sustainable lifestyle

• applies relationships between phenomena and concepts in their work and can provide theoretical justifications
• defines problems and tasks, and justifies solutions and choices based on knowledge
• reflects on their own actions, competencies, and areas for development, including feedback received

Not Approved:

Student
• fails to demonstrate achievement of the course objectives
• does not apply relationships between phenomena and concepts in their work, nor can they provide theoretical justifications
• is unable to reflect on their own actions, competencies, or areas for development
