Master's Degree Programme in Construction Engineering: 24YIRAKE
Code: 24YIRAKE
Description
ELIGIBILITY
The Masters Degree in Construction Engineering is intended for people who have completed a university degree in construction technology engineering, and who have accumulated at least two years of work experience in the relevant field after the aforementioned degree. At least two years of work experience in the relevant field, of which at least one year has been accumulated after the university of applied sciences degree, can be accepted as the required work experience for those who have completed a university degree or vocational higher education degree and then a suitable university of applied sciences degree.
COMPETENCES OF THE PROGRAMME
The goal of the master's programme is to deepen the knowledge and skills of construction engineering design expertise. The degree gives the student the readiness to work in demanding expert positions in the construction and real estate industry. These include e.g. planning tasks in the field of construction, research and innovation activities and management of various development projects. Major changes are taking place in the construction industry, e.g. in design methods and technical requirements, which are introduced in the study. The degree strongly aims at the development of construction engineering design expertise.
WORKING OPPORTUNIES AFTER GRADUATING
Graduates of the training are mainly placed in demanding management and expert positions in construction engineering design and consulting companies. They can work, for example, as project managers in planning, construction or development projects.
The degree is an alternative, professional postgraduate study path to university studies, and it provides the same eligibility for a public office or position as a higher university degree. The duration of the degree is 1.5 years.
The content of the degree program consists of the student's personal development task (thesis 30 credits) and in-depth professional studies that increase personal competence (30 credits). Their goal is to deepen the skills related to the design of a construction project and to update information on the most current design topics in construction. The degree includes a total of 5 credits of freely chosen studies, which can be chosen from the joint offer of TAMK's YAMK studies.
Curriculum development and working life cooperation
TAMK's Advisory Board on Construction and Real Estate has participated in the development of the curriculum. In addition, a group of experts from construction design and consultancy companies have been developing the curriculum.
