The final exam will take place on 14th of November 2022.
The renewal exam will take place on 24th of November 2022.
Assessment methods and criteria
The evaluation will be based on two things:
- The final exam where the student will be tested on how well they master the content of the course.
- Smaller language tests on predetermined dates which will showcase how well the students masters the subject matters of the earlier weeks.
In addition to this, the student needs to submit course work that will be evaluated on passed/fail basis. This applies to all grade levels, except for the grade 0.

Further information
Goals:
The student will extend their knowledge in Finnish grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and writing conventions. The language requirements of the nursing field will be the special focus of the course, and incorporated in the general language learning topics.
In the end of the course, the student should feel more confident about their ability to interact with Finnish-speaking patients and co-workers.
Assessment criteria - fail (0) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
The student can receive the grade zero based on any of the following reasons:
- The students fails to reach the minimum level (30 %) in the evaluated course work (the final exam and the language tests).
- The student does not complete and submit/present the required course work.
- The student misses more than 20 % of the course meeting time, and does not have a proper justification for their absences.

Grade 1:
The student needs to reach at least 30 % level in the evaluated course work (the final exam and the language tests).
Grade 2:
The student needs to reach at least 45 % level in the evaluated course work (the final exam and the language tests).
In practice, this demands that the student can show at least rudimentary knowledge on the basics of occupational nursing Finnish. However, the student might still struggle with handling more complex and advanced topics and subject matters, and does not necessarily know how to apply the new lessons in their previous knowledge about Finnish language.

Grade 3:
The student needs to reach at least 60 % level in the evaluated course work (the final exam and the language tests).
Grade 4:
The student needs to reach at least 75 % level in the evaluated course work (the final exam and the language tests).
In practice, this demands that the student can showcase solid, versatile knowledge on the basics of Occupational Finnish, and is able to incorporate their previous language skills in the new subject matters at least on a rudimentary level. However, the student might still need more practice with individual subject matters, and have hard time mastering more advanced topics.

The student needs to reach at least 90 % level in the evaluated course work (the final exam and the language tests).
In practice, this demands that the student can showcase solid, versatile knowledge on the basics of Occupational Finnish, and is able to incorporate their previous language skills in the new subject matters.
