Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet
Student performance in the course will be assessed through continuous and final assessments, based on the following components:
- Active Participation and Attendance (20%)
Regular attendance and engagement in classroom activities, discussions, and group tasks.
Constructive contributions during meetings, role plays, and presentations.
- Assignments (40%)
Completion of written assignments such as CV, cover letter, etc.
Tasks must demonstrate clarity, appropriate vocabulary, and field-specific language use.
Assignments are evaluated based on content, language accuracy, structure, and relevance to ICT context.
- Oral Communication Tasks (20%)
Performance in oral tasks such as meetings, presentations, or technical explanations.
Emphasis on fluency, clarity, vocabulary use, and appropriateness for professional settings.
- Final Project or Portfolio (20%)
A compilation of key course outputs (e.g. revised CV, job application, thesis abstract, and a self-reflection).
Students may present their work in class or submit a digital portfolio for review.
Note: Although components 1 and 2 together form 60% of the total score, they will be evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis.
Requirement: Students must pass all sections (1–4) in order to receive a final grade for the course.

The course will employ a variety of student-centred and practical teaching methods to develop both written and spoken English skills within ICT contexts:
- Task-based learning
Students complete authentic tasks such as preparing presentations, writing CVs, and simulating meetings, which reflect real-life ICT work situations.
- Pair and group work
Emphasis on interaction, role play, peer feedback, and collaborative learning to enhance spoken communication skills.
- Flipped classroom approach
Students review vocabulary, videos, or reading materials before class to allow more time for practical application and discussion during sessions.
- Project-based learning
Students complete mini-projects such as preparing a thesis abstract or a job application, with structured guidance and feedback.
Writing tasks: Structured writing activities guide students step-by-step in producing professional documents with increasing independence.
