Objectives (course unit)

After completing the course, the student masters the basics of machine automation and electrical engineering / electronics. The student is able to read and draw relay diagrams and circuit diagrams for electrical engineering. The student knows the most common basic actuators and sensors of machine automation. The student knows the basics of logic programming and knows how to program a simple machine automation system. The student understands the basic concepts of industrial internet and the effects of digitalisation in the manufacturing industry that is sustainable. In addition, the student will be able to identify processes that can be developed using industrial internet technologies.

Content (course unit)

Students in small groups carry out machine automation project work and familiarize themselves with the basic connections of electrical engineering and electronics. The main task of the projects is to familiarize the student with pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical connections, and to familiarize the student with the programming of control devices by means of model examples.
In addition, students will implement industrial Internet project work on the chosen IoT platform.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student master the basics of machine automation, electrical engineering and logic programming. The student is able to read and draw simple diagrams. Able to cope with simple logic programming tasks. The student understands the basic concepts of industrial internet / IoT. Can work in a group.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student master well the basics of machine automation, electrical engineering and logic programming. The student is able to read and draw diagrams independently. Able to cope well with logic programming tasks. The student understands well the basic concepts of industrial internet / IoT. Can work actively and constructively in the group.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student master excellently the basics of machine automation, electrical engineering and logic programming. The student is able to read and draw diagrams excellently and fluently. Able to cope with advanced logic programming tasks. The student masters the basic concepts of industrial internet / IoT. Can work actively and constructively in the group and guide other team members.
