Objectives (course unit)

After completing the course, the student
- knows how to gather information on Social Services and is capable of critical valuation of given information and to create a general view
- knows the most common genres and is able to use the knowledge in different kinds of situations in creating texts
- is able to create correct and relevant text and style
- can refer to sources and create a list of references
- understands the possibilities and limitations of using e-mail in work related issues
-can use the computer independently and MS Office software in their studies
- can independently use the software of TAMK
- can apply this knowledge in their work

- Information sources, library visit, e-learning material of Social Services and article databases
-Review of grammatical correctness
-Process of writing
-Standard of documents
-Neutral and formal style
-Features of texts related to studies: summary of book, essay, report, thesis
-Documents needed in search for work: job application, CV
-Professional texts of Bachelor of Social Services: memo, notification, report, article, e-mail messages
-Use of sources: giving a summary, references, list of references

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Written communication: The student communicates in an understandable and professional way, imitating patterns and instructions. The student will find the sources, although their use and referencing is minor. The justification of the claims is modest. The construction of the messages is volatile, and the language's form and style are noteworthy.
Information Technology: The student knows the basics of the course

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Written communication: The student communicates in a structured and illustrative way and focuses on the recipient and the situation. The student substantiates his view. The student selects his source appropriately; the referencing is naturally linked to the rest of the text. Essential information is clearly communicated. The messages are easy to receive and the texts are fairly accurate.
Information Technology: The student knows the essentials of the course

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Written communication: Students communicate convincingly, enthusiastically and interactively. Students justify their views in many ways. Students use sources to evaluate and comment. The essential information is well structured and concise, and the language and style are well controlled.
Information Technology:
The student is able to apply the topics handled with the course with great respect.
