Supervised Practical Training 7, Advanced Level Emergency Care (6 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

- is able to conduct an independent clinical examination of an injured or suddenly ill patient and is able to perform a related interview and assessment of the status, treatment and medication
- is familiar with the safe use of various examination and treatment tools, immobilisation and medical devices
- knows the documentation, reporting, communication and possible computer-based data transfer of emergency care
- masters the basic skills under supervision to lead the emergency care service and is able to collaborate with different authorities
- follows the ethical guidelines and principles of nursing, acts responsibly as a member of the working group and follows the practical training guidelines
- is able to realistically evaluate his / her own competence and development as an emergency care nurse

The student

- knows the safe use of various examination and treatment tools, immobilisation and medical devices
- knows the documentation, reporting, communication and possible computer-based data transfer of an emergency care patient
- masters the basic skills under supervision to lead the emergency care service and is able to collaborate with different authorities
-follows in his / her own actions the agreed rules of the supervised practical training
-reflects on and assesses his/her own actions realistically and is able to give and receive feedback
Fail
The student
- is not able to manage an independent clinical examination of an injured or suddenly ill patient and is not able to perform a related interview and assessment of the status or emergency care
- does not know the safe use of various examination and treatment tools, immobilisation and medical devices
-incompletely manages the documentation, reporting, communication and possible computer-based data transfer of an emergency care patient
-does not possess the basic skills under supervision to lead the emergency care services and collaborate with different authorities
-ignores in his / her own actions the agreed rules of the supervised practical training (e.g., does not take responsibility for his/her own learning, the goals are missing, does not follow the work schedules, does not inform about absences, the required number of hours of practice are not fulfilled)
- unrealistically assesses his/her own learning and is not able to receive feedback

Assessment methods and criteria

Mikäli opiskelijalla on mahdollisuus saada harjoittelusta hylätty arviointi, tulee opiskelijan ja harjoittelun ohjaajan olla välittömästi yhteydessä ohjaavaan opettajaan. Tilanteesta käydään keskustelu kaikkien osapuolten kesken ja sovitaan jatkotoimenpiteistä.

Student workload

Harjoittelun kokonaistuntimäärä 153 h / 4 vkoa. Tähän on jo hyväksiluettu orientaatio ja harjoittelussa tehtäviksi annetut työt, esim. reflektiopäiväkirja.
Arkipyhän osuessa harjoittelujaksolle on opiskelijalla oikeus vähentää työtunteja 7,5 h / arkipyhä.

Completion alternatives

Opiskelijalla mahdollisuus opinnollistaa harjoittelu. Tästä keskusteltava erikseen opettajan kanssa.

Ohjeistus harjoitteluun:

- toisen harjoitteluviikon alussa opiskelija lähettää ohjaavalle opettajalle ja harjoittelun ohjaajalle tavoitteensa Tamkin lomakkeella, samoin kuin työvuorotaulukkonsa. Syventävän harjoittelussa tavoitteiden pitää olla jo osaan-tasolla.

- ohjaava opettaja sopii opiskelijan kanssa väli- tai loppuarviointiajan, joko puhelimen tai Teamsin välityksellä

- väliarvioinnista opiskelija lähettää opettajalle ja ohjaajalle lyhyen sähköpostikoosteen

- loppuarvioinnin opiskelija ja harjoittelun ohjaaja kirjaavat Tanmkin lomakkeelle, jonka opiskelija toimittaa alkuperäisenä ja allekirjoitettuna, paperisena versiona opettajalle, samoin kuin työvuorolistan (alkuperäisenä ja allekirjoitettuna)

- kirjalliset tehtävät opiskelija palauttaa opettajalle sähköpostitse

- kaiken sähköpostiliikenteen tulee sisältää sekä harjoittelun ohjaajan, että ohjaavan opettajan opiskelijan lisäksi, pl. mahdolliset arkaluontoiset tilanteet. Mikäli opiskelijalla ilmenee harjoittelun aikana ongelmia, on niistä ilmoitettava välittömästi ohjaavalle opettajalle.
