Objectives (course unit)

The students learn different dimensions of site-specific art and expand their knowledge on the relationship between a work of art and the audience. The students implement one piece of art connected to an environment/place.

Content (course unit)

During the course the students implement a site-specific art piece with any means they wish to use. The students learn about the definitions of site-specific art from social, materialistic or ideological viewpoints and examine the significance of audience to positional work.

Further information

Kursilla opiskelija voi itse valita tekniikan jolla toteuttaa paikkasidonnaisen taideprojektin tai siinä tapauksessa, että projekti olisi suuri ja suuritöinen (vaatisi erityislupia tms.)suunnitelman paikkasidonnaiseksi teokseksi. Pääasiassa opiskelija työskentelee oman teoksensa parissa, mutta kurssi sisältää yhteisiä osuuksia joihin kaikkien on osallistuttava (kuten perehtymistä maalaus-, veistos ja video-installaatioihin sekä performanssin ja paikkasidonnaisen taiteen suhteeseen sekä vierailuja paikkasidonnaisten teosten äärelle tai näyttelyihin. Tarkoituksena on, että opiskelijan ymmärrys paikkasidonnaisen taiteen luonteesta kehittyisi ja opiskelija oppisi soveltamaan paikkasidonnaisen ajatteluun liittyviä asioita omaan taiteelliseen työskentelyynsä. Kurssi sisältää paljon henkilökohtaisia ohjaustapaamisia nämä ajat sovitaan erikseen niin, että ne eivät mene päällekkäin opiskelijan muiden kurssien opetuksen kanssa, pääasiassa näitä tapaamisia on tiistaisin ja keskiviikkoisin klo 11-12, tarkempi aikataulu löytyy kohdasta opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus.

Student has been presen 80% on contact lessons and made the given tasks and criteria listed below satisfactorily
- the artwork was made to site-specific context
- the artwork succeeded in combining material, contents and realization
-the student took a new challenge for them selves and succeeded on it
-the student developed their workprocess, innovativeness, and problem solving
- the student succeeded in combining the contents and the set up of the work
-technically the was succeeded
-the student was able to introduce the workplan and in rthe end the realised artwork succesfully
- the student was active on discussions

Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Student has been presen 80% on contact lessons and made the given tasks and criteria listed below well
- the artwork was made to site-specific context
- the artwork succeeded in combining material, contents and realization
-the student took a new challenge for them selves and succeeded on it
-the student developed their workprocess, innovativeness, and problem solving
- the student succeeded in combining the contents and the set up of the work
-technically the was succeeded
-the student was able to introduce the workplan and in rthe end the realised artwork succesfully
- the student was active on discussions
