Objectives (course unit)

Students learn how to develop and expand the business. In marketing they concentrate on the importance of image and brand. In economics students go through the key theories and concepts. They also improve their skills in international business. During the course students also construct the financial statement for their learning companies.

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION
After completing the course students will be able to
- take care of the basic tasks related to the end of an accounting period
- prepare a profit and loss account and balance sheet for a small firm.

MARKETING
After completing the course students will
- use modern marketing channels
- understand life cycle theories and product development
- understand the needs of business customers and respond to them with effective marketing communications means.

ECONOMICS
After completing the course students will
- know the basic concepts and regularities of economics
- know the basics of micro and macroeconomics
- familiarize themselves with economic policy and global economics.

MATHEMATICS
After completing the course students will
- know the impacts of changes in prices and in the value of money and are able to use them in calculations
- be able to do cross currency calculations and calculations on the effects of changes in the value of the euro
- do financial calculations applying interest and compound interest calculation.

INTERNATIONALISATION II
After completing the course students will be able to
- search for target market information
- analyse firms’ motivations and readiness for internationalisation
- analyse macro-environmental factors of the target country.

PROCESSES
After completing the course, the student will
- be able to recognize the core and support processes
- understand the relevance of processes in business operations.

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION
How do companies report on their results and financial status?
How are the financial statements prepared?

MARKETING
How to understand customers?
How to make business operations profitable?
What is the meaning and the role of image and brand?

ECONOMICS
How does the economy work?
What kind of phenomena does economics study?

MATHEMATICS
How are inflation and the resulting change in the value of money taken into account in calculations?
How to do currency calculations and what are the effects of the value changes in currency (for example euro)?
How are financial calculations made and how can spreadsheet be used in calculations?

INTERNATIONALISATION II
Where can market information for business internationalization process be found?
How to analyse firms’ internal readiness for internationalization?
What information does market survey of the target country include?

PROCESSES
What is a process?
What is the relevance of processes in successful organizational behaviour?
