Objectives (course unit)

The goals of the course.
The students
- are able to interact with Germans in business and recognise the special characteristics of the country
- are able to find out current information about German business life and marketing
- know the tradefairs of their own field held in Germany
- are aware of the differences and similarities between Finnish and German culture

Content (course unit)

Contents:
Germany as a country and current events, trade fairs held in Germany, culture knowledge.

Teaching methods:
On-line course taught in Moodle. Exercises about the contents of the course. The students e.g. familiarise themselves independently with a Finnish company which does business with Germany, visit the company or carry out a phone interview to the person in charge of the German business of the company. Through Moodle discussion forums, the students learn about eac other's companies and gain a wider view on the business carried out in Germany.

Evaluation:
The course is evaluated on scale pass-fail. The evaluation is based on the students' exercises.
