Degree Program in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Systems: Electrical Building Sevices Engineering
Code: 20AI256
Description
Building services technology is a key factor for the functionality, health and safety of the built environment. It allows you to create and maintain conditions suitable for your use, such as temperature, clean air and light. Building services takes care of the safe transmission and use of the water and electricity needed for operations.
Building services should identify the current and future needs of real estate users and find appropriate and workable solutions to them. The collection, transmission and utilization of various types of information related to the use of premises and the increasing automation play an increasingly important role in building technology. Intelligent management of buildings also requires wise use of energy and utilization of new energy solutions. Especially in Intelligent Property Management Systems and the new opportunities and challenges that come with them, you will learn about advanced building management systems. The training also extensively studies other electrical systems in real estate, such as electrical installations, lighting, electric heating, communication and data communication systems and alarm systems.
There are a number of statutory responsibilities and qualifications required for work in the field of building services. The systems are subject to safety, performance and energy use requirements in a variety of laws and regulatory acts. More and more requirements are based on EU directives and international standards. Knowledge of, compliance with, and application of the essential requirements of the regulations and continuous monitoring of changes in the field are the basis for the work in the field of building services and therefore their use is also an essential part of training.
Building services expertise is needed in both new and refurbishment projects. A growing field of work is the use and maintenance of real estate. Graduates usually work in the field of building technology designers, contracting, managerial or specialist positions, equipment manufacturing and sales, supervisory and regulatory functions, or property maintenance. You can either focus on one area or develop into a broad-based expert. A building services expert can find a job in a small or large company or become an entrepreneur.
Electronic building services training teaches students to design and manage a wide range of electrical systems for real estate. electrical installations, lighting, alarm systems, communication and communication systems and measuring, control and monitoring systems.
Training focused on Intelligent Property Management Systems and the new opportunities and challenges associated with them will place particular emphasis on the importance of automation in the overall management, control and monitoring of energy efficient and multifunctional properties. The studies meet the educational requirements for electrical qualification (S2).
The training includes joint studies with HVAC building service training. Collaborative studies increase understanding of how automated building services processes work and teach you how to make total energy efficient, safe, healthy, and functional building solutions.
Each academic year is divided into four study units. Throughout the study years, HVAC and electronic building service studies are closely linked, supporting collaboration and total solutions. Project studies that develop working capacity are carried out in cooperation with other training courses.
Curriculum development and working life cooperation
The curriculum is based on a long-term development of electronic building service education and a new building services training program started in 2009, the curriculum of which was developed in close cooperation with companies and other actors in the field. The aim of the training is to meet the challenges of the future, where the management of entities, cooperation and the impact of solutions on their environment are essential.
New business opportunities in the building services industry are expected as the industry becomes more important in construction. Society sets additional tasks for professionals in pursuing sustainable development goals and regulating the energy performance of buildings. Therefore, the building services training program is central to TAMK's focus on "Energy efficient and healthy built environment".
As the population ages, the living and operating environment must be built, refurbished and developed to create safe and healthy conditions for all its users.
Based on the experience gained, the revised curriculum has increased project-based, multidisciplinary work. Clear themes have also been selected for the study years. The themes and forms of the courses and modules allow for flexible refinements to the contents and forms of the studies.
Further information
Electronic building services training is a part of building technology education under the responsibility of electrical and automation engineering education. The degree program pilots training in intelligent property management systems and real estate automation, where in addition to electrical and automation technology, strong HVAC expertise is acquired.
Description
The specialisation studies in electrical services prepare the students for the electrotechnical systems of buildings, including electrical installations, lighting, electrical heating, communication and data transmission systems, building automation and alarm systems. A special emphasis is placed on the modern control and maintenance systems. The specialisation studies meet the training requirements set for getting the certificate of electric qualifications.
