Objectives
The objective of the course is to develop basic medical competence in disorders during pregnancy and childbirth and their treatment, as well as the most common disturbances related to the growth and development of a child in the children’s clinic.
Upon completion of the course, the student will:
• understand disorders during pregnancy and childbirth, including their pathophysiology and treatment.
• be aware of the most common underlying diseases requiring monitoring during pregnancy and their treatment.
• be able to apply theoretical knowledge to regular postpartum check-ups.
• understand the most common disturbances and challenges in the health, growth, and development of a child from a medical perspective, as well as the methods used in supporting them in the children’s clinic.
Content
• Disorders related to pregnancy and childbirth.
• Underlying diseases during pregnancy and their impact on pregnancy monitoring
• Postpartum check-ups
• Disturbances in the health, growth, and development of a child
Assessment criteria, pass/fail
Accepted:
• The student is familiar with the most significant disorders during pregnancy and childbirth and their treatment. They are knowledgeable about the underlying diseases requiring monitoring during pregnancy and their treatment. They can apply theoretical knowledge to postpartum check-ups in health care work. The student is acquainted with the most common disturbances and challenges in the health, growth, and development of a child from a medical perspective, as well as the methods used in supporting them in the children’s clinic.
Failed:
• The student only recognizes some disorders during pregnancy and childbirth and underlying diseases requiring monitoring. The theoretical knowledge related to postpartum check-ups is limited. The student identifies only individual disturbances and methods used in supporting the health, growth, and development of a child related to common disorders.
