The student
- knows extensively the content of pre-pregnancy guidance
- has the extensive knowledge of pregnancy and its physiology and hormonal processes
- has the knowledge of evidence based midwifery for pregnancy planning and confirming, prenatal care including the screening methods of normal pregnancy
- has the knowledge of prenatal care for foetal and maternal wellbeing and the detection of abnormalities
- knows how to support the positive pregnancy experience for women
- is able to plan the parental and birth education for groups
- has the knowledge of preparing process for parenthood and knows how to support the life changes
Content
- pre-pregnancy health promotion
- normal progression of pregnancy and support of physiological processes
- methods of foetal and maternal wellbeing screening and support
- guidance of pregnant women and their families
- family benefits and maternal care services
- prenatal screening and their guidance
- parental and birth education
- medication during pregnancy
Prerequisites
The student must have completed the nursing studies except the Bachelor’s Thesis. The student cannot participate until Supervised clinical training 1-7 and all theoretical and clinical nursing studies are completed.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
