Objectives
Periodontology
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
• Explain the interrelations between general health and periodontitis.
• Evaluate a patient's suitability for procedures based on medical history.
• Understand periodontal microbiology.
• Comprehend the epidemiology of periodontitis and its risk factors, explaining their impacts.
• Be familiar with additional periodontal diagnostic methods such as microbial sampling.
• Explain the etiological factors and diagnosis of peri-implant diseases.
• Plan and implement complex periodontitis and peri-implant disease treatment as part of a team.
• Evaluate treatment outcomes and identify the need for consultation or referral for specialized treatment.
• Implement maintenance therapy as part of a team and determine individually suitable maintenance intervals.
Cariology
Upon completing the course, the student will:
• Be able to explain the causes and prevention and diagnosis of hard tissue damage to teeth (erosion, abrasion, attrition, abfraction)
• be able to develop a caries treatment plan according to their own area of responsibility
•be able to explain the chemical effects of aesthetic tooth whitening to clients and provide indications and contraindications for tooth whitening.
