Objectives
The key objective of the study module is that the student:
• understands the importance of English language skills, interaction, and communication as part of professional competence.
• is aware of their role as a communicator in oral health care situations.
After completing of the course, the student
• will be able to apply their acquired language skills when interviewing patients about health status, medication, and lifestyle-related issues
• will be able to apply their acquired language skills when guiding and instructing patients in oral self-care.
• will be able to apply their acquired language skills to explain upcoming procedures, examination results, and issues related to treatment plans in a customer-oriented manner.
• will be able to understand professional and scientific texts in their field and apply the knowledge gained from reading.
• will be able to continue to develop their language skills in their own specialty area using various learning tools.

The student is able to communicate mainly comprehensibly in simple, routine interaction situations.
They can provide simple oral instructions to patients/customers and, if necessary, also written instructions.
They can ask the patient/customer necessary information about their current and previous health status and life situation.
They can use basic nursing vocabulary with assistance.
They understand the main points of texts related to nursing tasks using a dictionary.
They can manage simple conversation situations.
They generally respond in some way to what the conversation partner says.
They use basic grammar structures.
They use readily available aids such as free dictionaries.
They understand the importance of professional English skills and work to improve their language skills in their specialty area according to their own level and learning needs.
They have progressed during the study module considering their own starting point.

The student is able to communicate clearly in key interdisciplinary and multicultural interaction situations.
They can provide and justify individual instructions in common patient guidance situations (e.g., home care instructions).
They fairly successfully ascertain the patient's current and previous health status, life situation, and habits, and ask clarifying questions as needed.
They can respond appropriately to questions posed by the patient.
They can use key nursing vocabulary and concepts.
They can acquire information from nursing publications, reports, and recommendations to update their professional skills.
They understand the main points of nursing texts without aids.
They can critically evaluate sources and materials and apply what they have read.
They pronounce fairly naturally and clearly.
They mostly use structures correctly and correct their own language errors if they have led to misunderstandings.
They can express the same idea in different words if necessary.
They can use various sources and dictionaries as aids.
