Objectives

The energy and electricity market is in transition, where the importance and need for energy storage has risen to an increasingly important role,

The student learns
• to understand the legalities and operating principles of the energy market.
• to classify different large-scale energy storage technologies and knows their technical characteristics.
• to identify the application targets of energy storage in modern energy systems.

Content

• Operating principles of the energy market
• Large-scale energy storage technologies: battery, supercapacitor, hydrogen and fuel cells, pumped power plant, storage of electric energy as heat, smart electric grid technologies and ICT systems.
• Applications of large-scale energy storage and utilization of technologies in electric energy systems: power reserve system of the electric network, demand flexibility, charging of electric vehicles, peak power equalization of the electric network, buffer storage for weather-dependent electricity production, energy storage as part of the property's electrical system.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student knows the basic operations of energy storage and understands the basic principles of the energy market.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student recognizes the legality of the energy market. He / she knows the principles of energy storage dimensioning and selection.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has a comprehensive understanding of the energy market and the tasks and responsibilities of the parties operating in it. He / she knows how to choose and measure the energy storage as part of the electrical system in different situations.
