*Knows the basic principles of VFX software and tools
*Knows how to use VFX tools for a simple demo production
*Knows the basics of production economics
*Is able to keep the deadlines and receive and utilize feedback

Sisältö

- VFX pipeline in audiovisual productions
- Key fields of cinematic storytelling: e.g., understanding scenes and their role in the narrative
- Key positions of audiovisual productions regarding VFX (producer, director, production design, cinematography, lighting, editor, sound design)
- Key positions in VFX-production (VFX-producer, VFX-supervisor, VFX-artist, “VFX generalist” vs “VFX specialist” etc.)
- VFX specific roles and competence development
- Technical management
- Economic management: Bidding, pricing and budgeting
- Introduction to essential tools and software (3D tools and techniques etc.) in VFX productions
- Introduction to emerging new technologies: e.g. Virtual Scenography: Real-time VFX, Virtual sets (environments), Mocap, Volumetric Video

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1-2)

The student describes the essential theory and terminology related to the VFX production pipeline, economics and working roles. The student passes the software test.

Arviointikriteerit, hyvä (3-4)

The student shows good skills in the use of essential tools and visualization and shows a good understanding of how the VFX pipeline and economics are related. The student shows an understanding of how different roles in VFX production affect the final product. The student keeps the deadlines and utilizes feedback.

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5)

The student creates excellent visualization of how the VFX pipeline works and how the pipeline is related to production economics. The student describes the detailed differences between the various positions in VFX production and what kind of skills are needed in these positions.
