Objectives (course unit)

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. understand and use Finnish language in simple everyday situations
2. recognise the grammatical elements in Finnish words
3. apply grammatical structures in new situations
4. understand Finnish culture and way of life and studying

Content (course unit)

- pronunciation
- basic grammar
- day-to-day language: greeting, introduction, shopping, asking the way
- Finnish food, habits, education system, religion

Location and time

Contact lessons on Wednesdays at 9.00 - 10.30. Please check the locations from your calendar. The course starts at 10.9.2025 in class H3-08.

Assessment methods and criteria

To pass the course you need:
- Active participation (70 % presence)
- Submitted assignments.

The course is assessed as passed/failed. If you need a numeral grade (1-5) please contact the teacher.

Teaching methods

Contact teaching, activating written tasks, study conversation, discussion exercises, collaborative learning, exercises.

Learning materials

We will use Teams Classroom as a learning platform where the teacher will submit links and materials to support your learning.
