Objectives (course unit)

This course deepens students’ understanding of urban Southeast Asia. As to transferrable skills, the course improves students' skills in locating and analyzing new information. This course can only be taken together with the course "Urban Southeast Asia".

This course offers students a possibility to focus on a topic of their specific interest. The essay should relate to one of the modules in the course “Urban Southeast Asia”.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ENROLLMENT IN THIS COURSE. READ THIS: Peppi-system is NOT used for enrolment in this course. Instead, please enroll through the application process of the University Network for Asian Studies. APPLICATION PERIOD for autumn term is August-September and for spring term in November. Application times, guidelines and the application form are available at http://www.asianet.fi Once your application has been processed, you will receive a confirmation message about the decision. This will come a few weeks after the application period has ended. If you are accepted to the course, you will receive a welcoming email on the first day of the course, and gain access to the course site. You can check the starting day at http://www.asianet.fi. This course has a maximum intake of 40 students. Students are selected in the order of application. The places are divided evenly between the member universities of the Network. If you missed the application period, you can ask the course teacher whether there are free places in the course.
