Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

The course aims to give an introduction to the theory of salutogenesis and the central concepts of the salutogenic perspective on health. You are exploring the concepts of the salutogenic theory and reflecting on how they can be applied from the perspective of being a student or as a professional in your field. You are also introduced to practical skills and tools to develop a mindset sensitive to achieving and maintaining your well-being.

StructureThe course is a non-stop online course with ItsLearning as the platform.Students take part in the course individually according to their schedule.It consists of two parts, the first is 3ECTS (theoretical knowledge gaining and self-help), and the second 2ECTS (Digging deeper: reflection according to professional/student role e.g., leadership or professional role).The first one consists of 4 modules that introduce basic theory and concepts relating to the theoretical perspective of salutogenesis. The second part consists of one module (Module 5)where the student produces a reflective video lecture that recounts a professional perspective of salutogenesis based on a theoretical ground.The first part (3ECTS) modules 1-4 consists of readings and exercises tailored for the course, followed by a test and self-reflection for each module. The modules introduce the central concepts of salutogenesis and related topics, and well-being from different professional contexts and self-help.In the second part (2ECTS) each student produces a video lecture of a professional perspective in relation to salutogenesis.ExaminationTo pass the course the student should pass Modules 1-4 (3ECTS) or optionally 1-5 (5 ECTS). The course is graded as pass/fail. The course examinators will register study points four times during the academic year.
