Objectives (course unit)
By completing this course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the growth and development of school-aged children, enabling you to make informed conclusions about their well-being. You will learn to support children's motor development and acquire practical strategies for supporting their sexual development. Additionally, you will gain knowledge about the most common musculoskeletal issues in school-aged children, as well as the risk factors for obesity and related diseases. This course provides you with valuable expertise that you can apply in your work with children and adolescents. After completing the course: - You will be able to explain the progression of growth in school-aged children and draw conclusions about their development based on assessments. - You will understand the stages of motor development and how to support it. - You will be able to describe the main aspects of sexual development in school-aged children and gain strategies to support this development. - You will know the most common musculoskeletal issues in school-aged children. - You will be able to assess the risk factors for childhood obesity and understand the diseases associated with obesity.

Course Content: - Stages of physical, psychological, and social growth in school-aged children - Progression of motor development in school-aged children - Sexual development in school-aged children - Common musculoskeletal issues in school-aged children - Obesity in school-aged children The course consists of independent study of materials and completion of tasks. You can complete the course at your own pace. This course provides you with the basics of considering growth as a physiotherapist or physiotherapy student. You can continue your studies with the courses "School-aged Children in Physiotherapy" (5 ECTS) and "The School as a Work Environment for Physiotherapists" (5 ECTS).
