Objectives (course unit)
The course aims to give understanding of clothing production from design to manufacturing. After completing the course, the student is able to
• analyze the principles of garment construction and design
• understand the basics of apparel manufacturing process and the process planning requirements
• apply pattern making techniques for various clothing styles
• develop technical specifications for apparel production
• assess quality control measures in the clothing industry
• perform calculations related to manufacturing and pricing
• perform production planning and control
Content (course unit)
Fabric selection and quality requirements for different garments; Basic principles of garment construction; Pattern drafting and grading; Seam structures for different materials and products; Industrial apparel production processes and machines; Production planning; Pricing of products; Digital tools in clothing design and manufacturing; Automation in apparel production; Quality assurance and sustainability in clothing industry
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
Knowing: The student can define the basics of product and garment manufacturing process and knows the most essentials technologies and processes related to the topic.
Acting: The student is able to analyze simple tasks related phenomena like discussed examples. The student manages the assigned tasks under supervision/assisted.
Being: The student can give and receive feedback, can work in a group, takes responsibility for his/her own work.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
Knowing: The student has versatile ability to understand and analyze the product and garment manufacturing processes and has deep understanding of these issues.
Acting: The student can search for diverse solution alternatives, justify his/her choices and try new courses of action, assesses diverse solution alternatives, combines solution alternatives creatively or creates new ones.
Being: The student can cooperate responsibly, flexibly and constructively, develops his/her own and the group's interaction, works responsibly and in a committed manner considering the community and field requirements and needs.

Knowing: The student has a comprehensive knowledge about the course topic and shows understanding at more advanced level.
