Objectives (course unit)

After completing the course, the student
• knows the regulations and documents as well as ethical and pedagogical principles that guide the work of a music pedagogue.
• understands the significance of self-knowledge and interaction in learning and learner communities.
• is able to develop appropriate and accessible learning environments.

Content (course unit)

During the course, we will seek to answer the following questions:
• What are the regulations and documents as well as ethical and pedagogical principles that guide the work of a music pedagogue?
• What do self-knowledge and interaction mean and how do they impact learning and learner communities?
• What kind of learning environments are appropriate and accessible, and how can they be developed?

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Completing the course successfully requires demonstrating competence in accordance with the competence objectives using the agreed implementation methods.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment is based on the learning objectives of the course. Successful completion of the course requires demonstrating the skills corresponding to the learning objectives using the agreed-upon methods.

For students participating in the course implementation, a passing grade requires 80% attendance in the teaching sessions and successful completion of the tasks defined by the teacher. If a student completes the course through the demonstration of competence (AHOT), a passing grade requires successful completion of the tasks defined by the teacher. If a student has not achieved the learning objectives or demonstrated their competence using the agreed-upon methods, the course will be graded as failed.

Assessment methods include self-assessment, peer assessment, and teacher assessment.

Student workload

The scope of the course is 3 ECTS = 81 hours (1 ECTS = 27 hours of student work). The student participates in the teaching and completes the given tasks using the agreed-upon methods.

No optional completion methods organized by the Music Degree Program.
If a student already possesses the skills corresponding to the learning objectives, they can proceed directly to demonstrating their competence (AHOT).
