Tavoitteet (OJ)

The course aims to address basics of digital business and platform economy. Students acquire an understanding of the importance of network effects on businesses in digital ecosystems. In addition, students are introduced to supporting processes that improve customer experience and acquisition along digital channels. The themes of the course are expected to be applied to a digital business plan.

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
• understand and identify the different revenue logics, theory and practicalities in digital business and platform economy.
• conceptualize the relationship between conventional business processes and the digital storefront.
• classify different networks, actors, and interactions within different digital ecosystems.
• describe network effects and their importance in various digital ecosystems.
• identify customer-centric processes and features that add value to a business’s online efforts, as well as associated risks and inefficiencies.

The student meets the course objectives. He/she is familiar with some concepts and models of
platform economy, digital business models and revenue models. The student is able to create a
digital business model that applies some themes from the course. The individual contribution in the class and team is partly active.

The student achieves the course objectives well. He/she understands the concepts and models of platform economy, digital business models and revenue models. The student is able to create a fluent digital business model that applies relevant themes from the course. The individual contribution in the class and team are consistent.

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5) (OJ)

The student achieves the course objectives excellently. He/she masters the concepts and
models of platform economy, digital business models and revenue models. The student is able
to orchestrate a fluent and reasoned digital business model that applies the themes from the
course in an exemplary manner. The individual contribution in the class and team are consistent and of quality.
