Objectives (course unit)

The Advanced Animation course will explore advanced animation techniques, which may involve tasks like creating customized digital character rigs, employing stop-motion techniques, and utilizing motion capture technology.

By the end of the course, students will have a better grasp of various animation methods. They will also gain the ability to create customized rigs tailored to specific project requirements. The acquisition of these skills will expand the range of animation options available for future projects.

Content (course unit)

The course will consist of lectures and practical exercises involving various software and devices. During the course, students will explore the following themes:

• Additional animation techniques
• Rigging animated characters
• Producing an animation showreel

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student has knowledge of the basic processes of custom animation techniques and has the ability to create a basic-level rigged 2D or 3D character. The tasks and samples showcase essential skills in creating animated material using the aforementioned techniques.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student has knowledge of the processes of custom animation techniques and has gained the ability to create an intermediate-level rigged 2D or 3D character. The created tasks showcase an intermediate level of skills in rigging and animation techniques. Some of the student's creative and technical methods demonstrate an advanced understanding of the subject.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student has knowledge of the processes of custom animation techniques, including creating a rigged 2D or 3D character. The created tasks showcase a professional level of skills in rigging and animation techniques. Creative and technical work methods within the course demonstrate personal enthusiasm and development at a professional level.
