Objectives (course unit)
The Music Business course consists of various aspects of the music industry, including music publishing, digital and physical distribution, and music synchronization.
The student is able to:
Understand music release and distribution.
Use wide practical knowledge of music copyrights.
Identify music publishing.
Understand music synchronisation to film and other platforms.
Use negotiation skills.
Use music business skills.
Build a solid understanding of the industry's structure, professional terminology for contract negotiations and skills to draft effective agreements.
Content (course unit)
Various aspects of the music industry, including music publishing, digital and physical distribution, and music synchronization. Insights into future trends and developments within the music industry are incorporated. Teamwork, project management skills, and effective collaboration in an international group and project environment are incorporated.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student demonstrates a basic understanding of the music industry structure, media, and consumer needs. The student knows how to interact in discussions related to the field on a basic level and how to give and receive feedback. The student actively participates in assigned work and reporting.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student outlines the music industry structure, media, and consumer needs, and stays updated with developments in the music industry field. The student demonstrates a good ability to interact in discussions related to the field and is good at giving and receiving feedback. The student works actively as a valuable member of a group and delivers well-structured reports on their work.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student displays an ability to analyze the music industry structure, media, and consumer needs from various perspectives, including critical aspects. The student demonstrates an excellent ability to interact in discussions related to the field and is excellent at giving and receiving feedback. The student exhibits a high level of motivation and takes full responsibility for their own performance as well as the group's, demonstrating a strong commitment to both their work and reporting.
