Physiotherapy for Children and Adolescents, Practical Lessons (5 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

Students
- can guide the use and justify the choices for movement aids
- are able to evaluate and make conclusions of motor development of child as part of the development of the whole individual
- are able to support children and adolescent in different physical training and physiotherapy situations
- are able to select and put into practice effective physiotherapy for children and adolescents
- are able to plan and instruct different kinds of group physiotherapy for children and adolescents

- physiotherapeutic assessment and guiding in child centred way
- physiotherapy groups for children and adolescents
- movement equipment of children and adolescent

Prerequisites (course unit)

Opintojaksolle osallistuminen edellyttää osallistumista aikuisten fysioterapian opintokokonaisuuksille.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Satisfactory (1-2):
The student:
- performs exercises and tasks partially supported and under guidance
- demonstrates scarce knowledge in the during exercises
- works schematically in the instructive situations
- insufficiently justifies their actions
- does not prepare well for assignments
- works unpurposefully

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Good (3-4):
The student:
- is able to apply their knowledge according to the situation at hand
- is usually able to justify their actions
- is able to define physiotherapeutic diagnosis
- is capable of partial clinical reasoning
- carefully and systematically prepares for teaching situations
- Practices actively making use of guidance

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Excellent (5):
The student:
- is able to apply new research data
- takes advantage of earlier knowledge
- is able to determine physiotherapeutic diagnosis and is capable of clinical reasoning
- practices actively, and is able to evaluate their practice, learning and is able to justify their actions
- is able to work in good interaction with the client/group and is active in
the role of the assistant
- selects content purposefully based on the group's resources, and accurately plans the progress of the implementation
- identifies and describes the limits of their professional competence in multi-professional collaboration

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

A failed mark is the result of the student withdrawing, selecting or disregarding assignments during lessons and instructive situations. The student does not concentrate during excercises. The student has several absences from the practical lessons. Basic knowledge and skills are inadequate.

Harjoitustunnit ovat pakollisia kaikille jaksoon osallistuville!

Lähiopetuksen harjoitustunnit koululla toteutuvat 6.8.2025 alkaen Harjoitustunnit jatkuvat maanantaina 3.11.2025 ohjatun harjoittelu-opintojakson jälkeen.

Ryhtitutkimisia toteutetaan yhteistyössä Ilves ry:n jääkiekkojunnujen kanssa ma 25.8 klo 16.00-17.00

Soveltavan liikunnan ohjaukset toteutuvat Puistokoululla jaettujen ohjausvuorojen mukaan keskiviikko ja torstai aamupäivisin.

Lapset ja vauvat koululla päivä Kauppi Sport Centerillä ti 9.9.2025.

5-luokkalaisten MOVE-mittaukset Tesoman palloiluhallilla pienryhmittäin klo 8-15.30.

Apuvälinemessujen yhteydessä osallistuminen ja avustamistehtävät Liikuntamaassa 5-8.11.2025

Exam schedules

Käytännönkokeet ma 15.9.2025.
Käytännönkoe tulee olla hyväksytysti suoritettu ennen ohjattuun harjoitteluun lähtöä.
Uusintamahdollisuudesta keskustellaan vastuuopettajan kanssa henkilökohtaisesti.

Puistokoulun ohjaus tulee olla suoritettu hyväksytysti.

Ryhtitutkiminen tulee olla suoritettu hyväksytysti.

MOVE-mittauspäivä tulee olla suoritettu hyväksytysti.

Apuvälinemessujen Liikuntamaahan osallistuminen ja avustustehtävät siellä aikataulusuunnitelman mukaisesti.

Assessment methods and criteria

Käytännön kokeet (0-5) - käytännön koe oltava ennen ohjattua harjoitelua hyväksytysti suoritettuna.

Liikunnan ohjaukset Puistokoululla (hyväksytty/hylätty). Suunnitelma ohjauksesta lähetetään etukäteen sähköpostitse Puistokoulun fysioterapeutille sekä ohjaavalle opettajalle.

Muut ohjaustilanteet hyväksytysti suoritetut (ryhtitutkimiset, MOVE-mittaukset, Apuvälinemessujen Liikuntamaa)

Arvioinnissa sovelletaan fysioterapeuttikoulutuksen yleisiä arviointikriteerejä.

Opintojaksosta kirjataan yksi numeroarvosana: käytännönkoe (1-5)

Teaching methods

Harjoittelua yksilöllisesti ja pienryhmässä sekä itsenäisesti.
Ohjaustehtävät eri ohjaustilanteissa koululla sekä yhteistyökumppaneiden osoittamissa paikoissa.

Jaksolla tarvittava kirjallisuus ja artikkelit löytyvät Moodlesta jakson oppimisympäristöstä

Lasten ryhtitutkimukset Kauppi Sport Centerissä yhteistyössä Ilves ry:n kanssa elokuussa
Lapsiryhmien ohjaukset erityiskoululla (Puistokoulu) keskiviikkoisin tai torstaisin.
5-luokkalaisten MOVE-mittaukset Tesoman palloiluhallissa.
Apuvälinemessuille osallistuminen ja avustamistehtävät Liikuntamaassa marraskuussa.

Opintojaksolle osallistuminen edellyttää, että ensimmäisen vuoden opinnot ovat hyväksytysti suoritettu.
