Objectives (course unit)

Students
- know changes of society and how they affect a family
- are aware of the effects of an illness on children and family
- know the effects of illnesses on movement and functional ability of a child or an adolescent and on the whole development of an individual
- are able to find evidence based knowledge and to use it in physiotherapy
- are able to select appropriate and effective assessment strategies for movement abilities and the functions of a child or an adolescent and are able to use clinical reasoning and to plan treatment strategies
- know the effects of the most common medication for children’s’ diseases

Content (course unit)

-socioemotional and psychological disorders of children and adolescents and psycho-physical aspects in physiotherapy
-neuropsychiatric disorders of children and adolescents and physiotherapy
-physiotherapy of the musculoskeletal system in children and adolescents
-physiotherapy of neurological diseases in children and adolescents
-the most common medicines for children’s illnesses

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Satisfactory (1-2):
The student:
- identifies and defines the key points of the physiotherapy content, basic concepts and phenomena of physiotherapy for children and adolescents, but active structuring of information is difficult
- poorly identifies and describes the principles of ICF for the abilities of the child and the adolescent
- does not prepare well for situations
- participates in the group for goal-oriented activities
- only partially identifies their interaction skills and professional activity

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Good (3-4):
The student
- is able to structure describing in writing the links between information and phenomena of physiotherapy for children and adolescents
- mainly knows the principles of ICF for the functioning capacity of a child and adolescent
- is able to utilise earlier knowledge, new research data and the best methods in the field of physiotherapy for children and adolescents
- prepares carefully and systematically for study situations
- develops their interaction skills and take responsibility for issues related to studies

Evaluation criteria, Excellent (5):
The student:
- is able to combine previous knowledge, new research data and best methods in a flexible, creative and purposeful way in the field of physiotherapy for children and adolescents
- is able to define the principles of ICF in the functioning capacity of a child and adolescent
- is able to evaluate their own skills in a developing way, and shows willingness to improve their professional competence
- works in collaboration responsibly, flexibly and constructively, and understands the limits of their own physiotherapeutic competence in multiprofessional collaboration

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

A failed mark is the result of the student presenting inadequate knowledge of basic knowledge. Application of knowledge is flawed. The student avoids active participation during learning situations. Preparation is neglected, and feedback is not taken into consideration.
