Tavoitteet (OJ)
The course forms the basis for textile and material engineering studies and gives grounds for professional development. The course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of textile engineering, and sustainable practices within the textile industry. After completing the course, the student is able to
• understand the basic concepts of textile engineering and polymers
• understand the main manufacturing processes for textiles and terminology related to textile manufacturing processes
• explore the properties of textile materials (fibers, yarns, and fabrics)
• evaluate sustainable and recycling practices in textile and clothing production
• evaluate quality of textiles

Classification of materials; Fibre types and properties; Fabric (nonwoven, knitted, woven) formation techniques; Coloration and finishing; Textile testing and quality control; Sustainability, recycling and circular economy in textile and fashion industry; New innovations

The student is aware of the basics of the course topic and has an general overview of the subject.
The student is able to analyze simple tasks. The student manages the assigned tasks under supervision/assisted.
The student can give and receive feedback, can work in a group and takes responsibility for own work.

The student has versatile ability to understand and analyze the core topic of the course.
The student can search for diverse solution alternatives, justify choices and try new courses of action, assesses diverse solution alternatives, combines solution alternatives creatively or creates new ones.
The student can cooperate responsibly, flexibly and constructively, develops his/her own and the group's interaction, works responsibly and in a committed manner considering the community and field requirements and needs.

The student has comprehensive ability to understand and analyze the core topic of the course. The student can explain the core principles of the course subject at more advanced level and knows the most essentials issues related to the topic.
The student can search for diverse solution alternatives, justify choices and try new courses of action, assesses diverse solution alternatives, combines solution alternatives creatively or creates new ones.
The student can give and receive feedback actively and constructively, can cooperate responsibly and is ready to develop his/her interaction skills. The student takes responsibility and commits to the group activities in addition to his/her own work.
