Objectives (course unit)
The aim of the course is to introduce the different tasks of construction process so that the students are able to work in different tasks during a construction process.
Content (course unit)
Designing and implementing a civil engineering project from different viewpoints, design contracts, KSE95, YSE98, different construction models of civil engineering and their contract law. Public acquisitions, organising a competitive bidding and organising the payments for a piece-work. The most common reasons for disputes, avoiding and settling disputes, court cases.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
- The student knows what the builder's job description is.
- The student knows what matters are in the documents of a small-scale contract and is able to compete using the completed forms of the contract.
- The student knows the most important content of YSE
- The student is able to list typical risks of an infrastructure construction project.
- The student knows who the public procurement law applies to and its principles.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
- The student understands what the builder's task involves and is able to apply what he or she has learned.
- The student understands the significance of contract documents and is able to compete for a contract.
- The student understands the core content of YSE and its impact on different parties.
- The student is able to evaluate the main risks of the project on the basis of plan drawings and site visits.
- The student is able to list tasks related to design.
- The student can apply the principles of public procurement law in practice.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
- In addition to the above, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use in problem solving as well as the ability to present, analyze and justify logical solutions.

Assessment methods and criteria
Annen osuus 40 %, Petrin osuus 60 %. Annen osuus: tentti ja harjoitustyön vaikutus max -1,0...+1,0 arvosana. Petrin osuus 100 % harjoitustyöt ja tuntitehtävät, lisätehtävillä ja tuntiaktiivisuus max -0,5...+1,0 arvosana.
