Objectives (course unit)
The student
- is able to assess the needs and abilities of the client in a client-oriented and holistic way using evidence-based assessment methods, digitalisation and technology
- is able to design, implement and creatively evaluate an individual client-oriented nursing plan, utilising previously produced and evidence-based knowledge from the client
- is able to guide and support the client ethically, and is able to plan and ensure the continuity of care at a remote contact point, at the patient's home, at reception or in hospital care, utilising digital resources
- is able to act in multiprofessional cooperation as a responsible expert, enabling individual and holistic care for a client
- is able to apply his/her competence and skills with the most common diseases and aging changes of the population when taking care of a client with multiple illnesses
- is able to support the client and his / her significant others in the use of services, utilising the facilities of the third sector
- is able to realistically assess and reflect on his/her own professional skill level and activities in the work community
Content (course unit)
- the most common sudden and long-term illnesses of the population at different stages of life, including their symptoms and the implementation and assessment of the medication used for the care
- aging as a phenomenon
- support for self-care, health promotion, assessment of functional ability and rehabilitative nursing
- respite care, family nursing, different forms of service accommodations
- changing work environments and service processes in primary health care, digital health care services, home health care
- nursing decision-making, documentation of care planning in various care processes
- digital tools, services, well-being and health technology
- the nurse as a primary nurse, a nurse in charge and a nurse as team manager
Prerequisites (course unit)
At the beginning of alternative vocational studies, the student must have completed 135 credits of studies. These should include theoretical studies and orientation to practical training of the area which the student has chosen for alternative vocational studies, as well as studies in anatomy and physiology. The required areas are medical nursing, surgical nursing, mental health and substance abuse care, gerontological nursing and nursing in an outpatient clinic.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student
- is able to assess the patient’s holistic psychosomatic status utilising assessment methods
- is able to identify the main diseases of the population and methods for their treatment
- knows the basics of identifying the need for care of conventional diseases in the population, and how to plann, implement and assess the care
- is able to guide and support the patient and the significant others in a client-oriented manner
- can identify the effects of an illness on the client and the significant others and is able to find information to support them
- is able to identify the patient's perspective and present it in multi-professional teams
- is able to guide his / her own activities as directed
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

- can apply the knowledge about diseases he/she has learnt in the course for presenting, identifying the need for care, planning, implementating and assessing the care
- is able to take into account the effects of the illness on the family and is able to plan the care in a family-oriented manner
- can identify key diseases of primary health care and their medical care methods
- is able to use evidence-based knowledge in nursing
- reflects on his/her own activities and identifes the developmental challenges; knows how to evaluate peers and give constructive feedback

Koe 1/2 (alustava suunnitelma joka täsmentyy joulukuun aikana) tiistaina 6.2.2024 sisältäen potilastapausten 1-3 asiat sekä lääkelaskun. Edeltävästi tulee olla tehtynä potilastapauskohtaiset testit moodlessa.
Uusintakokeet 1 ja 2 Examissa.
Koe 2/2 (alustava suunnitelma joka täsmentyy joulukuun aikana) keskiviikkona 14.2.2024 sisältää potilastapausten 4-6 asiat sekä lääkelaskun.
Edeltävästi tulee olla tehtynä potilastapauskohtaiset testit moodlessa.

Osa 6 Pienryhmätyöskentely. Pienryhmätyöskentely arvioidaan hyväksytty/hylätty. Pienryhmätyöskentelyssä hyväksytyn suorituksen edellytyksenä on aktiivinen osallistuminen ja sovittujen tehtävien tekeminen.

Potilastapaus-pohjainen case-opiskelu, luennot, pienryhmätyöskentely, ohjattu itsenäinen työskentely, verkko-opetus (verkkoluennot, -keskustelut, -tehtävät ryhmätehtävät), opintokäynnit, hanketyöskentelyyn osallistuminen.
