Objectives (course unit)
The Student
- is able to perform postpartum midwifery in a family centered manner
- recognises disorders and complications and knows the care during the postpartum period
- is able to carry out high risk postpartum care
- is able to monitor the newborn and perform infant centered basic care
- is able to guide families in infant care and teach parents skills to meet the needs of the infant
- is able to promote breastfeeding
- recognises the health problems of the newborn and is able to care for them in a family supportive manner
- is able to support early interaction
- is able to guide families in promoting sexual and reproductive health
Content (course unit)
5 weeks supervised clinical training in a mother-infant unit

The student has participated in Postpartum Midwifery Care -module.

Pass
The student
- is able to carry out postpartum midwifery care safely and resonsibly
- interacts with the woman, family and work team professionally
- guides and supports the woman and her family in a patient centered manner
- follows confidentiality and data protection guidelines
- follows the guidelines of the supervised clinical training
- evaluates own competence realistically and is able to give and receive feedback
Fail
The student
- is not able to carry out postpartum midwifery care safely and resonsibly
- interacts unfrofessionally with the woman, family and work team
- withdraws from patient guidance and is not able to support women and their families
- does not recognize the boundaries of own expertise, is endangering patient safety
- violates confidentiality or data protection guidelines
- fails to follow the guidelines for supervised clinical training
- evaluates own competence unrealistically and is unable to receive feedback
Assessment methods and criteria
Väliarviointi ohjaajan kanssa. Loppuarviointi ohjaajan ja opettajan kanssa etäyhteyksin. Kaikki harjoitteluun liittyvät kirjaukset tehty Workseediin ohjeiden mukaan.

- Viiden viikon harjoittelu lapsivuodeosastolla. Harjoittelun orientaatiossa läsnäolovelvollisuus
- Imetysohjaustilanteeseen liittyvä analysointi.
- Luento/simulointi, sairas vastasyntynyt, Taitokeskuksella (Anne Mäenpää)
Student workload
Koko toteutus on 8 op. Käytännön harjoittelun osuus on 7.5 op x 27h = 202.5h opiskelijan työtä.
0,5 op opintojaksosta sisältyy huonokuntoisen vastasyntyneen luentoon/simulointiin. Luento on läsnäolopakollinen.
