Objectives (course unit)

The course gives the student the skills to identify different special biotopes of forest nature and delineate them on the terrain and on a map. He also gets an overall understanding of various nature management recommendations and their application.

After completing the course, the student:
• Identifies different valuable habitats of forest nature in practice and can define them on the map and in the forest
• knows the nature management and water protection recommendations of commercial forests and knows how to to apply them in practice.

Content (course unit)

Identification and marking of valuable habitats listed in the Forest Act, identification and marking of valuable habitats listed in forest certification criteria, protection zones for waterways and small waters. Retention trees.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student recognizes most valuable habitats in the forest and knows how to delimit them in forest management activities. He is generally familiar with forestry management recommendations and water protection recommendations, but he still has shortcomings in the design and implementation of practical measures

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student recognizes valuable habitats of forest nature in the terrain and knows how to define them in connection with forestry operations. He/she is familiar with forestry management recommendations and water protection recommendations and are able to apply them in the design and implementation of practical measures. He / she is able to justify forest owner's valuable habitat conservation and management measures.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student is fully aware of the valuable valuable habitats of forest nature and their characteristics. He also understands why these sites are special biotopes and is able to provide a comprehensive explanation to the forest owner of the reasons for protecting them. The student is able to independently map habitats both on the map and in the terrain. He / she is able to apply other nature management recommendations in a variety of practical situations and comprehensively justify their importance to the forest owner.
