Tavoitteet (OJ)

After the course, the student has an overview of different materials used in textile applications. The student knows the manufacturing methods and the terminology related to materials and understands the division of materials according to their properties.
The student is aware of the main textile production processes from fibre to the finished products. The student has an overview of the most common textile fibres and their characteristics, textile structures and the assembly methods of textile products. After the course, the student has a good basis for continuing the textile and material technology studies.

Sisältö (OJ)

Classification of materials, basic information on the most common organic and inorganic materials.
Properties of materials and manufacturing methods, material selection and material terminology.
Introduction to the structures and methods of production of polymers, fibers, yarns and fabrics.
Design of end products as well as fundamental economic, evironmental and supply chain issues.

Knowing: The student is aware of the basics of the course topic and has an general overview of the subject.

Acting: Capability to analyze simple tasks related phenomena like discussed examples. The student manages the assigned tasks under supervision/assisted.

Being: The student can give and receive feedback, can work in a group, takes responsibility for his/her own work.

Knowing: The student has versatile and fluent ability to understand and analyze the core topic of the course.

Acting: The student can search for diverse solution alternatives, justify his/her choices and try new courses of action, assesses diverse solution alternatives, combines solution alternatives creatively or creates new ones.

Being: The student can cooperate responsibly, flexibly and constructively, develops his/her own and the group's interaction, works responsibly and in a committed manner considering the community and field requirements and needs.

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5) (OJ)

Knowing: The student has comprehensive ability to understand and analyze the core topic of the course. The student can explain the core principles of the course subject at more advanced level and knows the most essentials issues related to the topic.

Acting: The student can search for diverse solution alternatives, justify his/her choices and try new courses of action, assesses diverse solution alternatives, combines solution alternatives creatively or creates new ones.

Being: The student can give and receive feedback actively and constructively, can cooperate responsibly and is ready to develop his/her interaction skills. Recognizes and follows the important courses of action in the field. Takes responsibility and commits to the group activities in addition to his/her own work.
