Objectives (course unit)

European competence level A2

Target group: those with passed basic course or upper secondary school studies in the language. During the advanced course 1 of the second foreign language, students study and practise various service situations, repeat basic structures of the language and learn to know the culture of the language area.

The student
- will be able to communicate orally in common situations and describe their studies and the main activities of their field
- will be able to use the basic structures of the language and demonstrate command of pronunciation
- will have a good command of basic vocabulary and key terminology related to their field
- will become familiar with the cultural environment of the language area and gain insight into working life culture.

Content (course unit)

In addition to general language, the course covers vocabulary used in working life.
Grammatical competence is expanded and German pronunciation is developed.
Knowledge of cultural conventions in the German-speaking world is deepened

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Grade 1
The student
- understands the main points of content covered in the course from either simple texts or slow speech in familiar contexts, when the message is repeated if necessary
- will be able to communicate the main points about education and working life understandably
- manages simple conversational situations when the topic is familiar
- understands and uses the basic vocabulary of the course satisfactorily
- uses basic grammatical structures at a basic level
- recognizes differences in cultural conventions

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Grade 3
The student
- understands the main points of the course content well, either from moderately simple texts or moderately slow speech in familiar contexts
- will be able to apply what they have learned and communicate the main points about education and working life
- manages conversational situations well when the topic is familiar
- understands and uses the basic vocabulary of the course fairly fluently
- uses basic grammatical structures in an understandable way
- will be able to take cultural differences into account

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Grade 5
The student
- demonstrates excellent understanding of the course content, either from texts or normal-paced speech in familiar contexts
- will be able to apply what they have learned and fluently communicate the main points about education and working life
- manages conversational situations very well when the topic is familiar
- pronunciation and intonation are fairly natural
- understands and uses the basic vocabulary of the course fluently
- demonstrates near-accurate use of basic grammatical structures
- will be able to make use of cultural differences
