Objectives (course unit)
The course provides personally tailored Finnish language at levels A2–C1.
After completing the course, the students will be able to reach objectives, which have been agreed by the student and the teacher in the beginning of the course. The objectives are based on Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). According to the CEFR document different language learning elements are taken into consideration: listening, reading, spoken interaction, spoken production and writing.
Content (course unit)
For each student a relevant content of study books Suomen mestari 1–4, and authentic materials especially at higher levels.
Focus on communication in everyday life:
- conversational and drama exercises
- pronunciation exercises
- reading comprehension exercises
- written exercises
- listening comprehension exercises
- vocabulary exercises
- structural exercises.
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
Pass
Students have been able to complete most of the assignments acceptably and they have attended contact lessons enough to show their progress. They reach the objectives set in the beginning of the course.
Fail
Students clearly can’t reach the objectives set in the beginning of the course. They couldn’t have shown their activity by attending regularly and/or by submitting needed assignments.

Teaching methods
according to the individual objectives set in the beginning of the course: supervised studying, creating e-portfolio, contact teaching, study conversation, cooperative learning, designing and shooting videos, oral and written exercises and games.
Learning materials
Suitable material will mostly be picked up from the books Suomen mestari 1 - 4 based on student's Finnish skills . Also authentic materials and materials created by the teacher will be utilized.
Student workload
3 ect course means 3 x 27 hours student work: at least 81 hours and clearly most of it self studying.
