The student
- masters essential evidence based knowledge and skills of the emergency and high dependency unit patient’s nursing
- masters essential monitoring, assessment and supporting of vital functions of the emergency and high dependency unit patient’s
- is able to implement the nursing process of an acutely ill in varied care facilities
- takes the crisis caused by an acute situation into consideration and supports the patient and family
- is able to act professionally according to patient safety and ethical principles in nursing in emergency and high dependency care circumstances in varied care facilities
- masters essential knowledge about continuity and health promotion for the advanced clinical nursing practice of emergency and high dependency unit patients
- masters promoting of coping of the patient and family
- is able to implement the principles of sustainability in nursing emergency and high dependency unit patient’s nursing
- is able to work in multidisciplinary team
- reflects on own actions, sees the development needs and positively effects the work environment.

Contents: 6 weeks of clinical training in Emergency unit or High dependency unit or wards with a High dependency unit

The student
- is able to implement evidence based knowledge in the care of emergency and high dependency unit patients
- is able to implement fluid- and pharmacotherapy and calculates accurately
- is able implement the nursing process for acutely ill patients individually while taking family and health promotion into consideration in emergency and high dependency units
- is able to use needed and varied observation and nursing methods in emergency and high dependency nursing
- is able to implement ethical principles in ethical decision making with acutely ill patients in emergency and high dependency units
- puts into practice the principles of sustainability, patient safety, and professionalism with acutely ill patients in emergency and high dependency units
- masters individual guidance taking the needs of the acutely ill and the family into consideration in emergency and high dependency nursing
- is able to work in multidisciplinary team
- reflects on own actions, sees the development needs and positively effects the work environment
Failed:
The student:
- Is not responsible for one’s learning, and cannot utilise feedback for professional growth, or enhancing the work environment
- repeatedly neglects preparation for procedures and/or implementation of the nursing process
- is incapable of implementing evidence based knowledge in the care of emergency and high dependency unit patients
- is incapable of implementing fluid- and pharmacotherapy and calculates inaccurately
- is incapable of implementing the nursing process for acutely ill patients individually.
- does not take family and health promotion into consideration in emergency and high dependency units
- is incapable of using needed and varied observation and nursing methods in emergency and high dependency nursing
- is incapable of implementing ethical principles in ethical decision making with acutely ill patients in emergency and high dependency units
- does not put into practice the principles of sustainability, patient safety, and professionalism with acutely ill patients in emergency and high dependency units
- does not provide individual guidance taking the needs of the acutely ill and the family into consideration in emergency and high dependency nursing
- is able to work in multidisciplinary team
Aika ja paikka
6 consecutive weeks in medical -surgical ward or policlinic as booked via jobiili or per work contract (details in Ohjatun harjoittelun-Moodle).

230 hours in the clinic, approved goals according to the curriculum, approved middle and final evaluations, active, full time participation in the reflection seminar.

For the reflection seminar 31.10.22
Every student prepares a 15-minute presentation about a procedure or treatment which has not been discussed at school. Presentation can be made individually or in a team with students doing the clinical training in the same field of nursing/ specialty. Confirm your topic with your supervising teacher to ensure that your topic is original.
