Objectives (course unit)

Students are able to adapt their skills in musical theatre to project work. Students have knowledge about innovation know-how, learning skills and work community skills, which they can adapt in a real working environments and -conditions.

Studying module is possible to execute with other organizations or cooperation companies.

Content (course unit)

Study module is still orientative and will excecute mainly in the school´s (internal) productions. Module can include one or several of these genres:
- music theatre
- theatre music
- ensemble work
- vocal group/ a cappella group
- chamber music
- orchestra
- playing in a group/ band
- choir
- lied
- opera
- artistic-productive tasks in a production

- Triple Threat Performer 1

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Students have done defined tasks in the project.

Location and time

Period-weeks are:
in autumn weeks 45 - 46 and 50.
in spring weeks 7 - 8.
The venue is production spesific, shows at a separately agreed time.
Productions are: Songs For A New World, Suomalaisen musiikin klubi and Rikkinäinen puhelin.

Regular participation. Execute all the given tasks.

Is agreed with the director/ supervisor teacher on a project-by-project basis

Student workload

Musical theatre:
Requires commitment and regular participation, 100%. Plenty of independent and group training. Can contain exeptional schedules.

Content scheduling

Period-weeks are:
in autumn weeks 46, 47 and 51.
in spring weeks 12 - 14.
Place and shows are defined by production.
2020-21 productions are: Songs For A New World and Sondheim.
Update 16.03.2021. Because of the Covid-19, execution has been cancelled and changed (SFANW) to Acting Through Song -period.

Completion alternatives

AHOT (professional theatre productions). Consult the senior lecturer.
