Cross-cultural Communication and Global Employability (3 op)

Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

Cross-cultural communication skills are becoming more and more important in today’s world of business and globalisation. Having knowledge of different cultures facilitates communication in multi-cultural working environments.
The purpose of this course is to equip students with intercultural business knowledge by real-case examples. The course is designed as an online course in collaboration with TAMK's strategic partners including Munich University of Applied Sciences.

The learning outcomes will include cross-cultural communication skills in various situations.

Aika ja paikka

The course is an online course. The times for meetings will be announced later.

Tenttien ja uusintatenttien ajankohdat

There will be no written exams. The grades are based on the final report in an academic style and a presentation.

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Evaluation is based on completing the course work and assignments on time. The point earned from each assignment will be based on on-time submission and the quality of work.
All submitted assignments should be based on TAMK's report template and TAMK's report guidelines.
To pass the course the course students need to

1. Participate in the forums:

post to specific forums and comment on at least two posts.
participate in and contribute to all forum discussions.
Complete all the compulsory assignments.

2. Completing all assignments

All written assignments must be submitted to the designated submission folders.
The assignments must be completed using TUNI's report guide and template.

3. Participate in small group/pair discussions.

Group activities must be documented and submitted as a memo.

4. Final essay Graded (1-5) Collaborative task with local groups or a Universities of applied sciences in Europe.

Lectures, self-driven studies, group work, group discussions and collaborative work

Oppimateriaalit

Materials for the course will be provided to the Moodle platform. Students will also need to gather relevant materials for their projects.

The course is mainly based on self-study and collaborative work. Subsequent lectures are not mandatory, but the first lecture and the presentation lectures are mandatory.

There a possibility for collaborative work with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.

The student has completed all the assignments and contributed to the forums.
He/she has:
-based the arguments on research, materials provided on Moodle or life experience.
- written the assignments using the required template and referencing style.
The language of the assignments is readable and comprehensible.
- scored the maximum points for each assignment.
