Objectives (course unit)
Goals:
Students know what are composites, and what are their benefits/drawbacks. They also know matrix and reinforcing materials of composites and industrial processing and manufacturing methods. Product application are also handled.
Content (course unit)
Content:
Composites benefits and drawbacks. Manual production methods like hand laminating, spraying etc. Automatic production methods like RIM, filament winding, pultrusion etc.
Exam schedules
Test: :9.12.2021
Resits: follow the instructions of TAMK
19.1.-20.1.2022
17.2.2022 (only for students, who have failed the course)
Evaluation methods and criteria
Evaluation: 0-5
It is necessary to give a feedback
- Seminar presentations about theory (poster + video) (15%)
- Answers of the theory questions are done at home and classes and the answers are discussed and presented at lessons in small groups (15%).
-Final test 70%
NOTE! If you are not able to attend lessons, submit your tasks to Moodle. In this case you can get max half of the points.

Assessment criteria - fail (0) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
A student has not done given tasks or she/he failed a test.
Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
A student knows the basics of composites and common materials and manufacturing methods of them. A student can tell some mechanical properties of plastic composites. A student can expect the effect of planning on the properties of composites. A student is a little bit motivated, take his/her responsibity for studying and is capable of working in a group. A student can give and take feedback.
Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
A student knows well the basics of composites and the most important materials and manufacturing methods of them. A student can independently tell mechanical properties of plastic composites. A student understand the effect of planning on the properties of composites. A student is motivated, take his/her and a group's responsibity for studying and is capable of working in a group. A student can fairly give and take feedback.
Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
A student knows videly the basics of composites and the most important materials and manufacturing methods of them. A student can independently determine mechanical properties of plastic composites and is capable of applying his/her knowledge. A student understand the effect of planning on the properties of composites and can represent it to other people. A student is very motivated and committed, take his/her and a group's responsibity for studying and is capable of working in a group. A student can systematically give and take feedback in order to increase his/her professional growth.
