Objectives (course unit)

Goals:

Students know the principles of industrial processing and manufacturing methods of plastics and elastics. The course strengthens the students’ professional skills.

Content (course unit)

Content:

Processing of plastics: extrusion, injection moulding/Reaction Injection Moulding, blow forming, vacuum molding, rotomolding and calendaring. Processing of elastics: compounding, extrusion, moulding, calendaring, vulcanization and finishing.

Location and time

Online teaching in Zoom on mondays 8:15-10:00 and tuesdays 14:15-16:00
Laboratory exercises in Hervanta cambus on given times

Evaluation methods and criteria

The evaluation is mainly based on the exam grades. The grade can be raised by earning bonus points from activity on lessons, participation and homeworks.
