Objectives (course unit)
The purpose of the course is to improve self-confidence through a series of activities and exercises. The course aims at:
• Improving pronunciation
• Improving Presentation skills
• Understanding the importance of Elocution (the skill of clear and expressive speech, especially of distinct pronunciation and articulation) in public speaking
Content (course unit)
- Knowing your audience (understanding the role of different cultures in presentation)
*Dealing with multicultural audience
*Basics of Intercultural Communication
*Emotional Intelligence
- The act of public speaking (How to deliver your message in order to inform, persuade or entertain your audience)
- Presentation skills (overcoming stage fright, shyness etc.)
- Engaging your audience (asking and answering questions, eliciting responses from your audience)
- Explaining difficult concepts
- Giving instructions
Location and time
The course starts on 3 August and lasts for about two weeks.
Exam schedules
There will be a final presentation or speech by each participant.
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is pass/fail.
To pass the course, participants should attend and participate in all online lessons.
Participants are also required complete assignments including short speeches/presentations and a longer (15min) as a final work.

Teaching methods
The implementation should have been face-to-face for practical reasons, but because of the current situation, this course will be mainly online either through ZOOM or TEAMS.

Students prepare short speeches and presentations, practice pronunciation, elocution etc..
