Objectives (course unit)

Objectives:
Students
- understand the position and significance of the professional field in the international operating environment
- understand the complex nature of sustainable development and the related role of global social work
- can work as experts of their field in international and multicultural work communities and operating environments
- can communicate in a culturally sensitive manner
- understands english articles in her own field (Skill level B2.2 European reference framework skill level)
- can write her thesis abstract
- manages with demanding interaction situations such as meetings, conferences and conferences
- adopt an antiracist work approach

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

1 Student recognizes the common features and differences of social work in different context and identifies the international and multicultural fields of social work. Student knows the main services, integration process and practices for immigrants. Student knows the basics in intercultural communication.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

3 In addition to previous: Students is able to communicate inter-culturally. Student is able to reflect the challenges and demands of multicultural work and work with immigrants

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

5 In addition: Student is able to use current international knowhow to develop social services.

Teaching methods

Lähiopetuksena keskusteleva luento-opetus.

Kirjallisuuden ja artikkelien lukeminen. Ennakkotehtävänä englanninkielinen artikkeli, joka käsitellään ensimmäisellä lähiopetuskerralla 13.3. Artikkeli Tabulassa.

Raportin kirjoittaminen opintojakson tavoitteiden pohjalta ja erillisen raportin kirjoittamisen ohjeen pohjalta.
