Objectives (course unit)
he student is able to define the basic concepts of heat transfer technology and flow technology and to apply flow technology in dimensioning and balancing flow engineering networks. The student identifies conventional heat transfer applications in HVAC technology.
Content (course unit)
Basic concepts of heat transfer and fluid dynamics. Dimensioning and balancing of building systems. Pipeline dimensioning in closed and open circuits with dimensioning diagrams and computation. Head losses in different parts. Performance characteristics of heat exchangers, pumps and fans with performance diagrams. Forms of heat transfer and heat loss calculations in the case of a flat surface and pipe. Determination of heat transfer coefficient.

The student recognizes the basic concepts of heat transfer and fluid dynamics. The student is able to make simple flow and temperature calculations
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student is able to apply the concepts of heat transfer and fluid dynamics to practical HVAC problems. The student is able to make applied flow calculations.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
Students master the concepts and calculation principles of heat transfer and fluid dynamics. The student can also apply them in different HVAC technical problems and calculations.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Opintojakso arvioidaan lopputentillä. Tentin pistemäärästä tulee saada vähintään 40 %. Tabulatenttien avulla voi kerätä lisäpisteitä tenttiin, mutta lisäpisteet eivät vaikuta läpipääsyyn vaan niillä on lähinnä arvosanaa korottava vaikutus.

Opintojakso alkaa 3.periodilla ja jatkuu 4.periodille. Kuormitus jakaantuu tasaisesti ja rytmittyy opiskeltavien teemojen ja laskuharjoitusten ympärille.
Content scheduling
Aloitetaan LVI-tekniikan virtaustekniiksillä sovelluksilla ja jatketaan lämmönsiirtotekniikkaan.

Mahdolliset AHOT-menettelyt sovittava 3 viikon kuluessa opintojakson aloituksesta.
