Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

Student is able to:
- understand basic terminology of geometry and trigonometry
- calculate areas and volumes of two- and three-dimensional objects
-use equations involving trigonometric functions and recognize graphs of them
- apply vectors to technical problems
- perform calculations with complex numbers
- perform basic calculations with matrices and apply them in practical problems

Geometry, areas and volumes, trigonometry, trigonometric functions and their properties, vector calculus and applications, complex numbers, matrices, group of linear equations.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1-2) (Opintojakso)

Understanding of basic concepts related to course topics. Capability to calculate exercises that are similar to discussed examples.

Arviointikriteerit, hyvä (3-4) (Opintojakso)

Understanding of basic and advanced concepts related to course topics. Ability to apply them in basic technical problems.

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5) (Opintojakso)

In addition, ability to apply course topics in advanced problems.

Tenttien ja uusintatenttien ajankohdat

There are two exams (part 1, Geometry and Vector Algebra and part 2, Functions and Matrices). The first exam will be held on Tuesday 17th of November and the second on Tuesday 15th of December. A student has to complete and submit at least 50 % of the exercises to be able to attend the exams.

Two re-sit exams for the both parts:
part 1: 18thof January 2021 and 8th of February 2021
part 2: 25th of January 2021 and 15th of February 2021

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

The final grade is based on the both exams. To pass the exam a student has to get at least 40 % of the maximum points in each exam.

40 % -> grade 1
52,5 % -> grade 2
65 % -> grade 3
77,5 % -> grade 4
90 % -> grade 5

Opiskelumuodot ja opetusmenetelmät

Lessons, exercises, self-study, videos, exercises, homework, exam.
A student solves mandatory exercises and saves them in TuniMoodle by given dead-lines. Before each dead-line a student has a chance to ask help in "helpdesk"-meetings.

Oppimateriaalit

All material, theory and exercises, can be found in TuniMoodle. If necessary, a student can use math books he/she has used before and the Internet to search more information about the topics. A student can borrow books in a local library. The solutions for the some homework will be published in TuniMoodle after every deadline.
