Law of Property (5 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The aim of the course is to develop basic skills in the application of the rules governing economic relations.

Student
- identify and present the main aspects of the law on contracts, property and damages
- apply the rules of law of obligations and property law in practice and justify their decisions
- take account of ethics, responsibility and professional cooperation in their work.

Content (course unit)

Legal subject, legal act and representation.
Debt and other obligations.
Formation, termination and nullity of contracts.
Types of contracts, sale of movable and immovable property.
Damages.
Ownership, property rights
Mortgage.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Students will identify the main principles and general doctrines of property law and apply what they have learned in practical situations. Students will identify property law problems, obtain information from different sources and solve property law issues. The student will describe the importance of taking ethics and responsibility into account in his/her work. He/she will participate in group work and reporting.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student identifies and understands the main principles and general doctrines of property law and is able to evaluate them critically. The student will be able to structure a property law case into relevant sub-issues, argue for their resolution in the light of the main rules of property law and present a reasoned solution. Students will act ethically and responsibly in their work. The student is an active member of a team and reports well on his/her work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student will critically analyse and evaluate the main principles and general doctrines of property law. Students will identify property law problems, obtain and analyse information from different legal sources and solve property law issues analytically, critically and comprehensively. Students will promote ethics and responsibility at both individual and group level. Students will be highly motivated and committed to taking responsibility for their own and group performance and reporting.

Assessment methods and criteria

Opintojakson (5 op) opintojen arviointi:
1. Tiimitehtävä ja juridiikan tehtävä (painoarvo 60 %), vertais- ja itsearviointi
2. Verkkotentti (painoarvo 30 %) ja siihen valmistavat 3 verkkotehtävää (painoarvo 10 %)
Hyväksytty suoritus: väh. 50 % maksimipisteistä

Opiskelija on saavuttanut opintojakson vaatimukset perustasolla. Opiskelija tuntee varallisuusoikeuden peruskäsitteitä ja -säännöksiä sekä osaa tyydyttävästi soveltaa niitä käytäntöön.

Opiskelija on saavuttanut opintojakson tavoitteet hyvin, vaikka tiedoissa ja taidoissa onkin jollain alueilla vielä kehitettävää. Opiskelija osaa määritellä hyvin varallisuusoikeuden käsitteitä ja tuntee hyvin aihealueen perusnormiston. Opiskelija pystyy tekemään perusteltua analyysiä. Opiskelijalla on perusvalmiudet soveltaa oppimiaan säännöksiä käytäntöön.

Opiskelija on sisäistänyt oppimansa ja pystyy analysoimaan ja soveltamaan aihealueen säännöksiä laaja-alaisesti myös käytännössä.
