Objectives (course unit)
The course supports students’ progress in the thesis process, graduation and career planning. Additionally, students will be familiarised with special features of research communication (thesis and maturity test) and coached to public presentation of thesis findings. Text workshops support the students’ writing process and presentation workshops prepare them for oral presentations.
After completing the course the student
- is able to carry out his/her thesis process as scheduled
- participates in the annual development discussion
- has abilities for moving to working life and for further development of working life competences
- writes convincing research text in a formal style
- processes acquired information in an analytical way
- can review information critically in written
- can use different argumentation methods
- understands the meaning of metatext and can use it easily
- can use references in an ethically correct way
- can present the thesis results

Exam schedules
Assignment 1: literature essay “Good Thesis”
Assignment 2: Familiarization with the evaluation criteria of the thesis in the study guide and evaluation of one thesis. Instructions for both tasks 1 and 2 in Moodle,
return to Moodle on 23.10.2020 by 9 am (autumn holiday Friday).
Assignment 3: Participation in the Pearls of Business Theses event on Wed 11.11.2021 at 14:15. The link to the remote event will come later via HTV3 Moodle news. Any absence from the Pearls of Business Theses event must be compensated by participation in thesis seminars from other degree programs (following at least three presentations). Tell your coach which three performances you have followed (performers, topic, occasion). For example, students with legal expertise have a thesis seminar once a month in Tamki. It is also possible to alternatively draft a second task 2 on some other topic (not in pairs).
Assignment 4: Thesis planning online test and assignment of the topic analysis (the topic analysis will be presented in connection with the team meeting), instructions in Moodle, preparation of the test and return of the topic analysis by Fri 29.01.2021.
