- perform quantitative and qualitative analyses with different kinds of spectrometrical and chromatographical methods
- document the laboratory work clearly to laboratory notebook and report the results in the form of a laboratory report
Content (course unit)
- spectrometrical and chromatographical analyses and reporting
Exam schedules
Exam 13.12. The date may change. Changes will be informed on the course Tabula-page.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Exam, laboratory works, laboratory note book, reports
-laboratory works: all the obligatory works has to be done and reported
-the information of the safety data sheets and notes of the demonstrations and laboratory works has to be in the laboratory note book
-if the reports are returned after the time limit specified on the course, the reports will have a grade of 1. The reports must also fulfill at least the criteria of grade 1.
-If reports are not returned by July 31, 2020, the job will need to be redone and also some extra work has to be done.

Prerequisite:
-Laboratory technique and safety
-Analytical Chemistry
-Spectrometry and Chromatography
There aren't any separate laboratory groups on the course. All participants of the course are present at all lab sessions.
Assessment criteria - fail (0) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
Student
-doesn't perform the laboratory works
-doesn't return the reports and/or the reports do not fulfill the requirements
-fails to meet schedules and attendance requirements
Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
Student can perform the laboratory measurements and experiments under supervision. Student performs and reports all laboratory works. Student returns the tasks as incomplete and late. The student assumes responsibility for occupational safety.
Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
In addition. Student can perform laboratory measurements and experiments quite independently. The student returns written assignments and reports according to schedule. The reports are in accordance with the instructions. Student knows the principles of spectrometric and chromatographic methods, different spectrometric and chromatographic methods and the interpretation of analytical results. The exam and reports shows that the student is familiar with the concepts discussed during the course and can apply them in most of the situations. The student assumes responsibility for occupational safety and laboratory work.
Assessment criteria - excellent (5) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
In addition. The assignments are very well structured and done excellently. Student shows good understanding of the subject. The reporting of the laboratory results shows that the student can apply the theoretical knowledge in explaining the results. Student is fluent in the concepts and phenomena related to the subjects discussed during the course.
