Nursing
The student
- has a basic knowledge of the patient's needs for rest, nutrition, elimination, cleanliness, physical movement and interaction, as well as related nursing assistance techniques and is able to promote health in these areas
- understands the importance of taking into consideration the patient's sexuality in nursing and knows the methods of its intervention
- knows the principles of primary nursing and acting as the patient’s own nurse
- knows the essentials of health-promoting nutrition
- knows the principles of rehabilitative nursing
- knows the principles of ergonomic working in nursing and knows how to apply them in assisting the patient
- knows the principles of terminal care and is prepared for nursing care of a dying patient
- takes responsibility for his/her own learning and working in a small group and commits to a goal-oriented problem-solving process within a small group activity

- knows the structure of the basic tissue types and the way they form the organs
- knows the structure and function of the blood, cardiovascular system and respiratory system

The student

- knows the normal characteristics of the different observation areas
- knows the importance in nursing of taking into consideration the patient's sexuality and knows how to address the topic
- knows the basis of rehabilitative nursing and ergonomic working methods
- knows some details or examples of health-promoting nutrition
- knows the principles of palliative care

The student
- has the basic knowledge of a patient's needs related to rest, exercise, nutrition, elimination, cleanliness and interaction and in addition knows both the reasoning behind nursing interventions in these areas, and how to promote health therein
- understands the importance in nursing of taking into consideration the patient's sexuality and knows how to address the topic
- knows the central issues of how nutrition promotes good health as part of the whole
- knows the principles of rehabilitative nursing
- knows the principles of ergonomic working methods in nursing and how to apply them in assisting the patient
- knows the principles of palliative care and is prepared to provide nursing care for a dying patient

Tenttien ja uusintatenttien ajankohdat

Nutrition test from 2 September on. Retakes by 12 October on EXAM.
Nursing care exam 3 October. Retakes in November (I: 4.-14.11.) and December (II:9.-19.12.)
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY:
The exam will take place in Exam-environment during week 41. Retakes also on Exam (I: 28.10-8.11.), (II: 25.11.-5.12.)

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Nursing theory (4 credits) assessment is based on written exam. Participation in classess. Mandatory participation in Orientation and Nutrition lecture. Graded 0-5.
Small group work ans Seminar 100% presence and active, contributive participation. Submission of approved tasks according to timetable. Assessment pass/fail.
Nutrition recommendations test completed by 12 October with 22 points.Assessment pass/fail.
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY:
Evaluation of the students performance is done with written exam. Grades are 0-5, 0 meaning disqualification and 5 meaning excellent knowledge.

NURSING: Nursing theory will contain basics of nursing skills. Nutrition lecture (2 h) on special diets will be a part of that. Prior to the Nutrition lecture, the student must take an online test on Nutrition Recommendations on EXAM system. For passing the test 73% correct answers are required (22/30). The test can be retaken during the course if needed.
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY:
Information about the methods, aims and studying strategy will be given on the first contact classroom meeting
TISSUES:
The student understands the structure of the basic tissue types and the way they form the organs.
BLOOD AND IMMUNOLOGY
The student knows the composition of the blood, understands its importance in the maintenance of homeostasis and in the transportation of various substances and regulation of body temperature. heat.
The student understands the role of blood in the body's defense and knows the events in blood clotting.
STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS OF HEART AND CIRCULATION
The student knows the structure of the heart and the circulation of the cardiac wall and can identify the large blood vessels and knows their structure. The student knows the cardiac cycle and the conduction system.
The student understands basic factors affecting the formation of blood pressure and the importance of blood pressure to hemodynamics.
The student knows the terminology related to blood pressure and understands blood flow regulation.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM AND ITS FUNCTIONS
The student knows the anatomy of the airways as well as the lung structure.
The student is able to explain lung ventilation, gas exchange in the alveolar level, transportation of gases in the blood, and understands the importance of cell respiration
The student understands the importance of ventilation in maintaining homeostasis, knows the regulation of ventilation and the volume of breathing.

Knows how to recognize the risk of malnutrition.
Can list the principles of hospice care.

In a satisfactory performance (T level), most of the required items are correctly presented.
